Buying a steady bike work stand
Bike Work stand
If you have kids like me you are forever fixing bicycles. I purchased a used bike work stand years ago that I would put my bikes on when I started to work on my kid’s bike. It was a used bike stand so naturally it had wear and tear and eventually fell apart. I decided to purchase a new bike stand and ended up purchasing the PCS-10 Home mechanic repair stand. This was a really sturdy stand and was great for mounting a bike to it. The bike clamp really held the bike in place as I actually picked up some classic bikes and begun to restore them. I had read reviews about the Park Tool bench but they really didn’t do it enough justice after I got it set up and started using it to work on several bikes. Some people think this bike stand is flimsy or cheap. That could not be farther from the truth. Some of the cheaper bike stand might work well if you have some of the lighter cheaper bikes. However, if you have the older bikes that weigh a decent amount the PCS won’t disappoint.
If you are somewhat handy and you take your bikes to repair shops then you really would save yourself some money over the long run when purchasing this type of bike stand. The ability to adjust the bike to eyelevel really makes it easy to grab a stool and sit down and patiently work on a bike.
If you decide to purchase the work stand it comes in separate pieces and fits together relatively easy, to the point that I thought it was too easy. Once you have it put together the stand can be folded up and put away so it does not clutter up your garage or work area. One you have lifted this product and feel how sturdy it is you definitely will be glad you purchased this Park Tool. You won’t be disappointed.
