Changing to the Makita circular saw

It used to be that Craftsman owned a majority of brand recognition when it came to tools. However, over the years new tools have emerged with brand names like Dewalt and Makita. My grandfather being a builder had always used Milwaukee until one day he bought a Makita cordless circular saw. I love cordless drill but I do not have high expectations when it comes to cordless saws. They seem to run out of juice fairly quickly. When you are building a house all day you don’t want to be running out of juice. The only benefit I can see to having a cordless saw is if you buy an extra cordless battery and cordless charger where you can quickly swap out batteries and charge the other one while you are still working.

Therefore, if you are serious about using a cordless saw you want a back up battery and possibly a back up charger. Some of the popular batteries include 18V 1/2″ Lxt Lithium – Ion Hammer Driver – Drill Kit – BHP451 and the rapid charger can be purchased for about 50.00 maybe a little less.
Makita 18-Volt NiMH 6-1/4-Inch Cordless Metal Cutting Circular Saw with Dust collector is an excellent circular saw. Some of the complaints are that it requires a jig to get a smooth cut. This is typical for most users of saw so it should not come as to a surprise that you would use this to get the best cut possible. You definitely will not be able to rip any boards with this circular saw like you are able to with some of the plugged in kinds but that should be expected.
