Making money through Pay Per Click
I previously discussed my search to make money online without selling products. My goal was to find a way to put up a website that could earn me money on a monthly basis. I really started to seriously consider generating income after reading other make money online blogs. I also was propelled to do this because of our current economy and my reliance on my current employer to support me for services I provide. In other words, I have to trust my employer would not fire me to help their bottom line. Well, I am in a state with double digit unemployment and it has been this way for almost 3 years. I still have job and I am grateful for that. However, I don’t like the idea of someone holding the well being of my family in their hand. To reinforce my concern my regional vice president discussed the possibility of having a furlough for salary employees. If you are unfamiliar with furlough it means you are layed off without pay for a period of time. In my case they are discussing 5 days of not working and no pay. So, my three weeks of vacation can not be used. This forces me to move forward to make more money in ways that are not traditional and don’t create a lot of risk.
My original idea of finding a way of creating revenue on the internet when without having a product or service to market led me to consider several options of which I am still exploring. One of the ways to make money online is through online advertising also know as Pay Per Click or PPC. In other words, an advertiser pays Google, Yahoo or Bing to display ads on their search engine in which the advertiser hopes the searcher will see the ad and click through to their website hoping the searcher will purchase something from them. These ads can be placed on most websites without significantly detracting from the owner’s content on the website.
The PPC ads are typically generated to match the content of the website. So, if you have a website about selling furniture your ads would most likely display things to do with furniture such as ads that target keywords that revolve around furniture or household items. You may have ads that display carpet cleaning, or that display furniture repair. This is how you get paid. You join of the PPC programs and if or when someone visits your site and they click on the ad displayed on your website you will receive money for each click.
The big question is how much do you get paid per click? This can not be answered for sure because most companies protect what the payout percentage is for each click. It also depends on how competitive the keyword the advertiser is targeting and what they are willing to pay Yahoo, Google or Bing for that keyword. As an example lets say an attorney decides to geographically advertize his services through Google’s Ad words program and he overpays for advertising for $15.00 a click. He hopes you will notice his advertisement and click through to his website and purchase his services. This means if you are using Ad sense to display ads and the attorney’s ad just happens to show up on your website or blog you would most likely receive $1-$2 for that click. However, he still pays $15.00 to Google and Google pays you the 2 bucks. The potential for payout is $2.00 per click, maybe 5 clicks a day for 31 days. You just made $310.00 for the month by allowing the ad to be on your website. The only problem now is to figure out how to get traffic to your site. This is possible through Search engine marketing (SEM) or Search Engine Optimization. I just showed how to make $310.00 a month online and you didn’t have to sell anything. Yes, you can join the advertising networks free of charge.
